Free Therapy

September 23, 2006 at 3:24 pm (Gab)

My funk returned. I’ve spent the last couple of weeks going through severe mood swings. Snapping at my kids and husband for no apparent reason other than they’re breathing my air. Bad. Bad. Bad. Especially when you don’t know why you’re behaving so cruelly.

But it’s clicked. I know what my problem is and I didn’t have to see a shrink to figure it out.

I’ve been working on rewrites for my second book since June. Before that, I’d finished the next proposal, which is currently sitting in my editor’s office, waiting to be read. That means, I’ve spent the last few months doing nothing but reading my own work and tweaking it. It’s put me in a sad place, I think, because it means I haven’t had the time to sit and create in a long time. I’m working on worlds I’ve already built, and that little devil in me that needs to create new sentences, worlds, people, is poking me with her pitchfork. I need to spend a day writing fresh words.

Odd, but the moment I had this revelation, the dark cloud above me turned blue. I’m in a great mood, even though I still haven’t written today. Just knowing what my issues are seems to be therapy enough for now – at least until I finish the rewrites I’m working on.

Yay me!

Devil’s Possession Trailer

September 13, 2006 at 1:06 pm (Gab)

So I made a strange trailer for The Devil’s Possession. WordPress won’t let me paste the Youtube viewer here, but check it out on my website and let me know what you think.

Brokeback Mountain

September 12, 2006 at 7:53 am (Movie/Media Reviews)

Well, I finally broke down and watched the gay cowboy movie. Honestly, it was a really good, touching movie. There were bbm.jpgsome really graphic scenes that were hard for me to watch, but truly, I think seeing Anne Hathaway’s boobs was more of a shock than the gay love scenes. I could make a lot of jokes about those scenes, but I won’t, because one great thing about it was that it was a universal love story. Take out Jake and make him Joanna and you could still have the same story. Love knows no gender. Without the graphic gay scenes, I think this movie should be a “must-watch” for all gay bashers out there. It shows a more humane side of a group of people that others sometimes dehumanize.

I just finished reading…

September 11, 2006 at 5:35 pm (Books I've Enjoyed)

sod.jpg

Sword of Darkness by Kinley MacGregor. I would have bought it based on the cover alone, but when I read the burb and discovered it was set in a fantasy post – Author Camelot, I knew I had to buy it and read it ASAP. Glad I did. It was a fun book, a bit dark, but that’s what I write so I didn’t mind. It was sort of like a fantasy/medieval Dark-Hunter story with gargoyles, female merlins and demons. I highly recommend this tale to anyone who dares to suspend disbelief and simply enjoy good fiction! (Story blurb from www.BarnesandNoble.com)

The new king of Camelot wears no shining armor: Arthur and his knights have fallen and a new king rules.

In the darkest forest…

A scared, forsaken youth has become the most powerful — and feared — man in the world. Ruthless and unrestrained, Kerrigan has long ceased to be human.

In the heart of London…

A spirited peasant mired in drudgery, Seren dreams of becoming her own woman, but never expects that by fleeing her fate, she will meet her destiny.

Their worlds are forever changed…

Kerrigan’s goal is simple: barter or kill Seren to claim Arthur’s Round Table. Yet she is the one person who holds no fear of him. More than that, her nobility sparks something foreign inside him. In his nether realm, kindness is weakness and a king who harbors any sort of compassion loses his throne.

For countless centuries, Kerrigan has lived alone in the shadows. Now Seren’s courage has forced him into the light that will bring either salvation to both of them…or death.

Farewell Janelle…and other stuff

September 8, 2006 at 9:22 am (Gab, Movie/Media Reviews)

banner1.gif First,   I’m chatting at the Berkley blog, Between the Covers, today. Come by and say hi!

Now for the good stuff (or whatever). Janelle is gone from BB7. Sniff. I wouldn’t feel so damned mad if she’d lost to, say, Will, or even James or Danielle. They, at least, were compentent players. But to Boogie and Erica? The two cast members who haven’t made a single play on their own all season? THey both rode Will the entire game — the lousiest players in BB history, but whatever. I’m not bitter or anything.

Oh, yeah, and Celebrity Duetzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…. sorry, fell asleep there for a minute. Boy, that show sucks. It’s like watching a train wreck, but more painful on the ears. The only talented person on the show is Jai from Queer Eye. And what’s up with Little RIchard? Why in the world would they let someone who doesn’t speak English judge an American show? Sheesh. HORRIBLE.

It’s enough to make me stop watching reality TV…. at least until Survivor starts in a couple of weeks 🙂

Rockstar, Supernova

September 7, 2006 at 8:59 am (Movie/Media Reviews)

storm.jpgYet another reality show I’ve become addicted to (go Dilana!). Last night, Storm was kicked off, which was going to happen sooner or later anyway. She was alright, but not the material that can stand up with Tommy Freakin Lee. Neither, I think, is Magni. Lucas, I’m sure is a front runner, though I personally can’t stand him and will boycott the album if he’s on it. So for me, it comes down to Dilana and Toby. Love ’em both.

BB7

September 6, 2006 at 9:11 am (Gab, Movie/Media Reviews)

HAHAHAHA!

Oops, sorry. Was that out loud?

It’s no secret that I love Big Brother, and last night’s episode was no disappointment.bio_janelle.jpg

But you love Will! – you all think?

True, but here’s the thing – I want Janelle to win. Therefore, the fact that she got rid of her biggest threat made me so happy. No, I don’t like Erika. Not even a little bit. But she’s a dumb player and the jury are going to realize that if she makes it to the final two with Janelle. No shot in hell you Pilate B*tch.

Also, Howie is disappointing me. The last three times he was on the show, his sweet immaturity became outright annoying and embarrasing to watch as he attacked Marceles and George in the jury house. Howie, hun, you’re looking rather pathetic.

And lastly… Boogie, you stupid loser. How dare you throw that pouty tantrum – pissed that you’ve been had when you’ve been doing the same thing to everyone else? You’re just sad cuz now that you’re brain’s been evicted (Will) you have no idea how to play the game.

Yeah, well, ask me how I really feel.

a shocking death

September 4, 2006 at 2:19 pm (Gab)

si.jpgI was so saddened today to sign online and see the tragic headline that Crikey Steve Irwin was killed today while filming an episode of The Crocodile Hunter. A sting ray’s barbed tail pierced his heart, and the island they were filming on was too remote to hope to get to a hospital in time to save him. Read the full story here.

A tragic loss for his family and all the animals the Irwin’s have fought to protect. He will be missed.
