The Da Vinci Code – DVD
My normal opinion on novel-based movies has not been altered by The Da Vinci Code. The book far surpassed the flick. Now, I don’t necessary blame the movie-makers for this blunder. TDVC is a book full of details that move the story forward. Those details were what kept me reading page after page, not the story itself. Because of time restraints, the movie obviously could not include all of the historic details that made TDVC a page turner. A pity, because I love Tom Hanks. But the movie fell short. I believe it also made the mistake of assuming all watchers would have read the book and therefore understand the plot movement. But, having read the book at the height of its popularity, I tried to pretend I was watching as someone who didn’t know the story. Had that been true, I think I would have been a bit confused by all of the “findings” and “clues” along the way. If you didn’t read the book and you watched the movie, let me know whether you followed along easily or were left with questions not answered. I’m really curious!
